What services do you offer?
OXO offers a wide range of localization services. Our team of experienced linguists offers translation into all major language pairs, as well as subtitling, interpreting, editing, proofreading and copywriting. You can read more about our services on our What We Do page or drop us a line to talk about your localization needs.
Do you offer writing services?
Yes! Several of our linguists are also talented writers. We offer copywriting for marketing and PR content as well as technical writing, mainly in French and English.
Do you offer revision services only?
We do! We offer copyediting and proofreading for unilingual texts and we can also revise translations that have been done by a third party. Depending on your needs, we can offer a complete stylistic and structural overhaul or just check for typos.
Which languages do you translate?
Our main offices are in Montreal, Canada, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, so we specialize in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese. However, we have also developed a wide network of trusted partners, which allows us to offer services in all major language pairs.
What is a translation memory (TM)?
A translation memory serves as a database for translated segments, which are stored in the memory of our computer-assisted translation (CAT) systems. These segments are retrieved automatically by the CAT tool whenever it comes across a fragment of text that is identical or very similar to another one in the memory. These similar fragments are known as fuzzy matches. By retrieving repetitions, 100% matches and fuzzy matches and automatically re-using them, the translation memory is able to boost our efficiency and further ensure consistency.
What if I have a translation memory?
Send it to us! It will be very helpful for increasing our speed, efficiency and consistency. Not to mention that we will adapt our fee structure accordingly.
What if I have a lexicon?
Send it to us! We will make sure to use your preferred terminology by incorporating it into our system and sharing with all parties involved.
How can I place an order?
You can go to our Contact page or simply email sales@oxoinnovation.com with your document attached and specify the desired language(s) and deadline. Our sales team will get back to you quickly with a quote and will assign the relevant resources to your account.
How long should I allow for the translation of my text?
Our scalability allows us to tailor a solution that best fits your current needs. A single linguist’s output is around 2,000 words/day. This can scale up multiple times as we put a team together to work on specific projects or on accounts with bigger volumes of work.
My files are confidential in nature. How do you handle sensitive material?
We take privacy very seriously. All our files are stored on our secure content platform and shared with members of our team on an as-needed basis. Every OXO collaborator, whether internal or external, can only start working after having signed an NDA. We can also share our standard agreement or sign your corporate NDA before commencing work.
What file formats are supported?
OXO handles any file type, from graphic documents to web, multimedia and beyond.
How do you ensure the quality of translations?
In addition to being native speakers of the target language and living in the locale of the language variant, all OXO translators must have experience in the industry and a proven background in their field of expertise. Our translators and internal collaborators are constantly assessed and monitored through feedback and quality assurance reports for individual projects and thorough annual reviews. Such evaluations take into account the linguist’s performance, expertise, availability and responsiveness. Our proprietary Language Quality Assurance (LQA) system identifies and fixes potential issues before project delivery, communicates our quality expectations to vendors and improves resource allocation. Translation procedures include client validation and the implementation of one round of amendments at no extra charge. By creating custom translation memories, termbases and style guides, our translation practices ensure consistency across all content.
Could my files be delivered late?
Occasionally, we may need more time than we originally quoted. However, your project manager will let you know as soon as possible if this is the case, and negotiate with you a new deadline, without compromising your launch or delivery dates. If your files are delivered late without warning—which should not happen—escalate to your account manager or production director to find out what went wrong, how we can prevent it from happening again and how we can make it right this time.
Are your translators certified?
Several of our Quebec translators are certified by the Ordre des traducteurs terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ). While it is not mandatory, we encourage the translators on our team to apply for certification by covering their fees.
What if I’m not satisfied with the translation?
We will implement one round of revision free of charge. Our linguists are university-educated professionals who have devoted their careers to learning all the minutiae associated with the meanings of words in the source language and the right way of expressing them grammatically in the target language. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you do not make alterations to texts yourself without checking in with us before you publish. Instead, talk to us!
If you have style preferences or industry-specific terminology to share with us, we will be happy to take note of that so that we can provide complete satisfaction in our subsequent work. We understand that deadlines can be tight, so our turnaround times are lightning fast, especially when it comes to quick questions about a sentence or two.
Constructive communication is the best way to get the most out of the experts who are working for you.
